AR-15 Trigger

In order to have a reliable and consistent aim with your AR-15, you need to have the right kind of trigger. Stock triggers often give you an indication right before they “break” into the shot. This often causes the shooter to flinch in anticipation of the recoil and miss their mark- and you definitely don’t want that.

Instead, you want to look for a high quality AR-15 trigger that “breaks” without any preemptive warning. Good AR-15 triggers also don’t have to be pulled back very far before firing a shot. It may sound a little counterproductive at first, but this will allow you to focus more on your target instead of when the gun will actually fire.

There are two main types of AR-15 triggers: single stage and dual stage. Single stage are the simpler of the two in that you simply pull until the trigger breaks. With dual stage triggers, you pull until you hit resistance and then keep squeezing until it breaks. While both are great options, single stage triggers are generally better for close-range shots and dual stage triggers are better for long-range targets.

Lastly, you should consider the shape of the trigger. While some people prefer a curved area that fits the finger, others choose a flat style trigger. There isn’t really a difference in performance, so this comes down to your own personal preference.
